Platinum melts at 3500 degrees (!!!), and must be cooled precisely over many hours to avoid a costly "explosion".

Success! A rough cast in platinum, perfectly fitted to its stone.

After much polishing and a delicate mating, the result is a gorgeous ring of enhanced value.
